This guitar is a 1994 Gibson “The Everly” J-180, a modern reissue of the Everly Brothers’ famous black acoustic jumbo. It features the classic small-jumbo body, star inlays on the fingerboard, and a moustache bridge with star inlays—matching the limited 1994 Anniversary-spec Everly models.
HISTORICAL CONTEXT:
The Everly Brothers originally used a black Gibson acoustic from the early 1960s featuring twin pickguards and star fingerboard inlays. Gibson reissued this model in the 1980s and 1990s as the J-180. Around 1992–1994 Gibson marketed certain versions again as “The Everly,” including limited production variants. In 1994, for Gibson’s Centennial year, a limited run of approximately 100 “The Everly” guitars were produced featuring star-inlaid moustache bridges and premium appointments. This guitar’s features match this 1994 style specification.
Note: this guitar is pre owned but still in very good condition. Any obvious marks are visible in photos of the headstock.
